Midelt is a city in Morocco, at the junction of the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas. The population of the city is 44 781 inhabitants in 2004. The city, located at 1,521 meters of attitude, was founded by the Protectorate in 1917 to make it an administrative center of the region. This region is grouped under the name of "Circle of Midelt" circle that covers an area of 6000 km² and whose main centers are: Itzer, Boumia, Aghbalou, Tounfite, Ksabi, Bouayach, Krouchen, Mibladen, Ahouli. Apart from these cities, the rest of the population lives in Igharman (referred Ksours, Douar, Dchar, by region and language) that cover the entire region in areas very close to each other. Situated at 1,521 m above sea level in the Atlas Mountains, Midelt has a Mediterranean climate with mountain influence, often with snow in winter. At this altitude, the mountain vegetation (fir, cedar) is present with the Mediterranean vegetation (oak, olive, date, etc.).
